Combining Computer Science with Medicine
My name is Hans-Werner Ott. I'm a computer science engineer
(ETH Zürich) and I have now finished my second study of
medicin at the University of Basel (Switzerland). Beyond I've
listed my professional aims for combining this two studies. But
perhaps - someone in the WWW has better ideas ... (or is even
interested in an education like this).
ETH Zürich, 1988 - 1993, Study of Computer Science at the
Department IIIC
Study at the ETH Zürich with lectures and exercices i.e.
of the famous Prof. N. Wirth (PASCAL, MODULA, OBERON)
or Prof. R.E. Mäder (MATHEMATICA).
Specializing lectures in Biomedical Technique (MRI,
CT, Ultrasound) (Prof. Bösinger) at the Department
IIIE. Other specilized lectures like Elektroencephalography
(EEG) or The Visual System at the University of
Zürich.
Final graduate work to computer-science-engineer in 1993
(MRI, MRA, Computer Graphics): "Gefässerkennung
für Magnetresonanz-Angiographie" (Prof. Bösiger,
Prof. Kübler) .
University of Basel, 1993 - 1999, Study
of human medicin
Now final phase of this study. Planned termination:
20.11.99.
Doctoral thesis "Auswertungsoptimierung von
Cerebro-Spinal-Fluid-Flussmessdaten in der
Magnetresonanz-Tomographie" (Prof. E,W, Radü, PD
Dr. G. Bonartz) in 1997 with an award of the Medical Faculty
Basel.
- Beyond I've listed my further planning.
-
- Last phase of the study of medicin
- In these months I have finished my study of medicin at the
universitiy of Basel (17.11.99).
-
- Begin of an asssistant doctor job at the
department of Neurosurgery (University Basel)
- This job is planned for starting the 1.1.2000 and taking
one year
-
- Begin of training job in the department of
Radiology (University of Basel)
- This training job is planned for starting the 1.1.2001
and takes four years. In the end should result the title
of radiology-specialist (FMH).
-
- Becoming specialist in Neuroradiology
- After becoming radiology-specialist, I've planned to make
a training for Neuroradiology (2 years) for satisfying my
special interests in Neurology, Angiography and MRI/MRA.
